A journey to world stuff-making domination

I recently had the pleasure of designing a book for Mike Hipple who is both a great friend and an amazing photographer. A little more than a year ago he began the “Dailies” project to try to reconnect on a daily basis with his passion for capturing images. He and I have talked about working on a book together in the past, but unfortunately the impetus for this particular project was not a happy circumstance. Mike is being sued by Jack Mackie, the sculptor responsible for the bronze dance steps that line the sidewalks on Broadway for copyright infringement and the proceeds from this book will go to his legal defense fund. Click here to read more about the case and if you’re feeling generous, to donate to the fund. And, if you’re in Seattle, please come to the fundraiser that’s happening at the Sunset Tavern on July 22nd. There will be a silent auction and great music provided by Jupe Jupe and Chadwick. Good times!

The book itself was really fun and challenging to put together. With nearly 400 images to choose from and only 40 pages to fill it was really difficult to narrow the images down. Some of the pages are arranged by color, some by theme, some by… well, you’ll just have to buy a copy and find out!
